I would like you to think about the 16 Habits of Mind we have been learning about. Choose one or two of these habits and write about a time where you were challenged and used this habit/s to work through the problem.
If you do not believe you have used one of these before write about how you could have handled the problem better by using one of the 16 Habits of Mind.

Once I was with my friends and we were doing handstands and I did one (well tried to) and I stacked it, and it really hurt, but in the end we all just stared cracking up laughing. It was really funny. So I was showing ‘finding humor’ number 16. (I think)
Once I was acting in a play and I forgot what to say, so I had to find the humor in the situation and persist through it by still talking afterwards. Luckily the audience didn’t notice. Hannah C-F
This was at school last term. We were playing Jag outside on the courts. I was on the fielding team. The ball was really high so I could catch it but I all ways dropped it. So then I kept persisting, then at the end I was able to catch the ball and I got someone out.
When I was doing cross country this year I kept on loosing my breath, but I was saying in my head,”you can do it Mollei your so close!”. Because I kept on persisting I made and I also happily made it to cross country district!
HABIT OF MIND: APPLYING PAST KNOWLEDGE TO NEW SITUATIONS I can name many times I have applied past knowledge to new situations. In my write4fun poem this year, I used pictures from social media to help me. So I saw this picture of Syrian refugees while I was thinking of a poem to write, as well as seeing a lot of news about the refugees and reading articles in the past. In design and tech, Mr. Fleetwood showed us speeches of civil rights activists. He asked “Do any of you might know any of them?”. Everyone was joking around and were saying things like ‘DONALD TRUMP” (uh nope), I look a lot at influential people like Nelson Madela and Malala, who were both activists. So I applied that past knowledge and said Martin Luther King Jr, and he was saying the I have a dream speech (which coincidentally was listening to today).
Once I was with my friends and we were doing cartwheels. I didn’t know how to a cartwheel. So after school I kept persisting and practising until I could do a cartwheel.

When my little brother was small I would teach him stuff like the alphabet, it took a lot of persistence. And I’m glad I did keep persisting because now at school the teacher is he is at least a year ahead for his age.

Once in a netball game I wasn’t feeling to well and I used “Striving for Accuracy” and tried to make it the whole game and PERSISTED. I was thinking about trying to make it the whole 4 quarters but I felt like I was going to vomit in the 3rd quarter so I “thought about my thinking” and called time to the umpire and I was in my favourite position to!! (GD, Goal Defense). I was so sad but hjappy that I stopped because after that I felt even more terrible when I got home.. 🙁 Habits of Mind I used: Striving for Accuracy Persisting Think about your thinking (Metacognition) I would have more stories to tell (not that it is made up) but you know I am only allowed to tell one or two. 🙂 #HannahMOUT!! #Ilikehashtaggingstuff

TAKING RESPONSIBLE RISKS When I went to a friends birthday party at a go-kart place I was nervous because I’d never driven one before and I thought I was going to crash but in the end I had lots of fun and only crashed once.
I am an absolute professional at finding humor. Once my shorts were inside out and Chloe pointed it out. when all the girls in the group found out they all started laughing, and you know what? Do you think I cared? Nope i just started cracking up with them. I thought it was one of the funniest things of my life. I don’t get offended easily. Or when my mum kisses me in front of every one sometimes i get a bit embarrassed but I mostly don’t care.
